We received service from a very nice, helpful, and knowledgeable service representative. Our only comment to improve service was when we called in in the middle of the night due to odd and loud noise from heating unit, it would have been helpful to have someone on the line who could tell us what to do, was it important to shutdown the equipment, if so, how, or could we leave it running until a service representative arrived.
Upon arrival I started with unit that’s tripping breaker, marked #4, basement. Ran system from thermostat and checked heating operation. Found aux Heat is tripping breaker. Breaker is 20amps when it should be 60amps. Also, disconnect boxes are not correct. 60amp disconnect at compressor circuit, should be on aux heat circuit. Also found 30amp disconnect at aux heat circuit when it should be on compressor circuit, also needs to be rated for 40amps, not 30. Then I went to wine cellar humidifier and was told drain was leaking. Found drain adapter not tight, tightened female nut on back side of panel to secure drain tap with pan. Once tightened the dripping stopped. Customer also explained that humidifier is loud when it runs, I called tech support and he had me perform static pressure test. Airflow is normal and unit operating normally. Per Troy, we are coming back to install duct on condenser side to minimize noise when fan runs. Found steam humidifier fill light blinking. Humidifie
Fall pm on arrival set unit to call for heat measured supply and return air temp measured voltage and amps inspected electrical connections checked drain and cleaned checked air filter cleaned checked blower motor checked evaporator coil checked all other electrical connections I door unit checked condenser unit outdoor checked electrical connections checked compressor capacitor checked voltage and amps checked coils checked pressure and temp and they are ideal indicating zero leaks checked all other electrical connections for outdoor unit unit tested unit operating normal at this time. Recommended Uv lights installation also single or hole house surge protector installation to avoid future problems.
It took time to realize some settings in the thermostat were incorrect making the heat come when the thermostat is set to 3 degrees above room temperature. In finding this I ran the unit and checked defrost operation which brings on the oil furnace. The heat pump itself is an inverter compressor and capable of heating down to 10 degrees which is where I locked it out at. I checked the outdoor temperature sensor and it’s working properly. The system should easily hold set point. I advised the customer that raising the thermostat in more than 2 degrees increments will result in the oil furnace from turning on. Unit operating normal. I tried calling senior tech to relay my findings. I could not get a hold of them and warrantied the call because the customer says they never altered the thermostat installation settings.
Up on arrival performed fall maintenance on 11/14/2019. Checked all thermostat and units , checked all electrical components and drain lines. Took delta T and P . Changed all filters. Units are working good at this time.
Had problem closing out balance collected check
On arrival set units to call for heat measured supply and return air temp measured voltage and amps inspected electrical connections checked drain and cleaned checked filters and replaced units operating normal at this time. Customer has incorrect filter in geo unit. What’s the context filter size is 30x32x2 is needed. Also as I was was doing my inspection I noticed hot water tank drip pan was filled with water I got a contact with customer to let her know what was going on she returned back to the home and paid half down for her water heater. I gave dispatch A call Darlene to schedule installment of 50 gallon water heater tomorrow morning
I decided to start over with the wiring so that I could more easily trace and route the wires appropriately. I wired into the transformer low voltage wires not from the thermostat connections off of the control board. Once the wet switch was wired and working I tied the pan switch into the series as well. I let the unit run in second stage cooling and measured 20+ degree delta temperatures across the air coil. This showed me the refrigerant circuit and blower are operating normal. I ran hot water through the drain line to flush any remaining debris. I poured a significant amount down the drain to make sure it was draining all the way down from the attic to the basement. Unit operating normal.
CLEANING THE DRAIN LINE WITH NITROGEN ALSO REPLACED THE WET SWITCH On arrival set unit to call for cooling nothing running checked geo split no 24v checked electrical connections checked voltage and amps checked bord checked airhandler in attic the pan is full of water wet switch tripped reset wet switch is Bad I can’t reset it I gave quote for customer to clean the drain pan pressure nitrogen to the drain pipe replaced the wet switch customer accepted the quote also customer she got spirit discount by Alex clean the drain pan pressure nitrogen the drain pipe replaced the wet switch start up unit is not coming on I checked all electrical connections checked voltage and amps the 3 amps fuse the air handler keep burnt rewire wet switch still keep doing the same thing I’m out of 3 amps fuse I can’t finish the job unit is turn off from t-stat. Collected $350 for job deposit on C.C job balance $375. Also customer she needs to be contact on this number (301)-980-7676
Customer he told me I come when I arrived customer he is not in house also I call the customer multiple times he doesn’t answer wait the customer for 30 minutes we have to reschedule the service.
I checked the air filter and it is good for 6 more months. Coil and blower wheel are clean. I operated the unit on #12 heating mode. I fine tuned the blower speeds from 2,6,10,11 to 2,3,11,12. I confirmed proper flow rate and heat of extraction. Loop pressures are at recommended psi. I checked the electrical wiring and electrical systems, all are within specification. I checked auxiliary heat strips. Unit operating normal. Customer has all recommended accessories like WHSP, wet switch and bypass humidifier. Customer is set for winter.
Service call on 09/16/19 On arrival set unit to call for cooling measured supply and return air temp measured voltage and amps inspected electrical connections checked drain checked air filter checked EWP and LWP checked blower motor and blower wheel unit operating normal I put my aurora no fault I call water furnace tech support checked some stuff with them no fault found customer explained to me what she hard from the unit tested multiple times I don’t hard any noises unit operating normal. Customer sign new service agreement I waved the $89 dispatch fee and I collected $299 for 1 yer service agreement fully paid.
Both geo units share the same ground loop, which had lost all pressure. The split system was going out on high pressure lock out. I pressurized the ground loop to 65 psi and cleared faults from the unit. I bled a small amount of air from the pump. I opened the valves all the way to not restrict the flow of water. I slowed the 7 Series vs pump to 25 & 75. I let both units run at the same time to make sure that each unit had the correct pressure drop and that this problem cannot happen again. I checked cooling across the coil and had 20 degrees delta temperatures. I also had normal loop temperatures and heat of rejection. Unit operating normal. I reminded the customer that service memberships check these issues out twice a year.
On arrival found system locked on drain safety.found Aux pan full of water .cleaned it also clean drain line and added Algea tabs .then poured water to test it .unit draining properly..repaired warrantied per alex .
I found the blower cabinets door insulation completely pulled against the blower cutting air flow. I secured with some spray glue and tape and then operated the unit on second stage cooling mode and checked everything, refrigerant pressures, pressure drop, heat of rejection, capacitor, fault status, and most importantly checked cooling across the coil, 81.2 return, 60.1 supply. Unit operating normal.
Trip fee found line voltage was shut off to AHU.
Spring Pm On 05/17/19 On arrival set the units to call for cooling measured supply and return air temp measured voltage and amps inspected electrical connections checked drain and cleaned checked filter and replaced checked water pressure and temp checked compressor capacitor checked all other electrical connections unit tested units operating normal at this time.also customer has issues with condenser drain pipe back up water to the unit to solve the problem I recommend to install trip safety water protection ez trap.
