I really appreciated that chris called ahead, was on time, and found a problem other technicians overlooked.
Upon arrival I found low flow center leaking at cap, reservoir too full from pressurizing top floor system. Put flush cart adapter on flow center and drained reservoir until it stopped leaking then opened up flow center to verified water isnâ€™t leaking out of the cap anymore. Customer still has issue with E16 on top floor system. Found variable speed pump getting 240v but only pulling .2 amps, rated for 1.7. Removed dc wires to see if pump would run at 100% and it didnâ€™t. VS pump is bad, which is on the supply side of flow center, which is why we were seeing a negative water pressure (water being pushed out to loop but not going up to unit). Low Flow Center is in the basement while the unit is on the top floor. Spoke to customer about repair and he would like to talk to Alex about Low Flow Center and Pump moving forward. We may want to move low flow upstairs so it doesnâ€™t fight gravity so much.
Fall pm on 12/12/19 On arrival set units to call for heat measured supply and return air temp measured voltage and amps inspected electrical connections checked drain checked air filter checked blower motor checked coil checked EWP and LWP I found unit #2 the thermostat is gave me E16 codes EWP and LWP is 0psi Check water temp it was 5 degrees DT checked voltage and amps I have 2.09 amps for the pump pump is running fine unplug the power to the pump no psi deference still 0 psi when I plug the wires back to the pump still 0 psi also I was pump the loop for 5 psi water to it water was overflow from the low flow sensor on this point I called water furnace tech support tell the what I see theyâ€™re told me to move the flow sensor next to the unit or that E16 codes is comes back to the thermostat I rescheduled the customer for tomorrow to more diagnostic to the unit what we can do about it both unit operating normal at this time unit #2 has E16 error codes on the thermostat.
I replaced the filter with one provided by the customer. I checked the electrical wiring and electrical systems including the auxiliary heat strips, all are within specification. I operated the unit on second stage heating mode and recorded actual heat of extraction of 37,000+ btu/hr. I recorded 30+ degree temperature rise across the air coil. I pressurized the ground loop to 65psi. Unit operating normal.
On arrival installed 2 eztraps ans one wet switch.also replaced flame sensor on the first floor unit.tested units operations .units operating normal
Up on arrival performed fall maintenance. Tested 2 thermostat, tested 2 units for operation, found poor flame sensor on unit on ground level, recommended to replace flame sensor, also recommended to install wet switch and ez trap on upper system, and ez trap on the lower system. All systems operating normal at this time .
I replaced the air filter in the attic with one provided by the customer. The one for downstairs was fine. I checked the electrical wiring and electrical systems, all are within specification including the auxiliary heat strips and overheat safety devices. I pressurized the ground loop to 65psi, confirmed proper flow rate and heat of extraction. Both units have normal temperature rise in second stage heating mode. Customer wanted hot water generator turned off. Both units are operating normal. I noticed no form of electrical surge protection and recommended adding whole house surge protectors and Intellistart Modules for each geo unit.
I cleaned the evaporator coil and flushed with battery powered pressure washer. I sealed up filter access that is not being used. Coil is like brand new. Customer paid in full.
I replaced the Air Knight PX5 UV bulb and checked for proper operation. Customer paid in full.
On arrival set unit to call for heat measured supply and return air temp measured voltage and amps inspected electrical connections inspected water pressure and raised it ,checked electric heat .found dirty evaporator coil and blown uv light bulb .customer paid in full for evaporator coil cleaning and uv bulb replacement . Unit is operating normal at this time.
Upon arrival I removed all refrigerant from system, 140oz. Removed filter drier and txv. Installed new txv and filter drier. Pressurized with nitrogen to 400psi, no leaks. Removed nitrogen and vacuumed system down to 500micron. Replaced control board while unit was vacuuming. Added factory charge of 140oz. Returned power to system and tested ac using zone panel. Called for ac about 10 times and system cycled on normally every time. Called for ac from thermostat and checked operation. Unit operating normal. Customer said he has been hearing whooshing sound for attic system. Capacitors in spec and refrigerant charge normal. Customer doesnâ€™t have oil trap, need to confirm with office about needed an oil trap or not to stop excessive noise. Finally customer said he is interested in installing buffer tank and Dhw pipes for supplemental water heating. He would like a call from office about this.
Upon arrival customer called for ac on both zones but system didnâ€™t cycle on right away, Y1 and Y2 present at Board, no faults or error codes, but no voltage at CC or CCHI. Reset system and let unit naturally come on, when system came on it sounded like a lot of air pressure in ducts. Found zone 2 damper wasnâ€™t opening when called, getting stuck. Had to remove actuator from damper, clean shaft and reattach set screw. Tested damper multiple times. Then put gauges on system because I found low delta air temp at evap coil. Compared refrigerant pressures to installation manual with 70 degree water temp, low suction pressure, high discharge pressure, high Superheat, high subcool, low delta air temp at Evap coil. Restricted txv, previous quote has been uploaded already. System satisfied thermostat during visit but discharge pressure was slowly rising. Let unit cycle on again but compressor didnâ€™t come on until after 10 minutes of waiting. The call for compressor is being lost in the co
On arrival noticed system keeps cutting off every time system goes to second stage .called tech support and advised me to rewire cc and cclo on the board ,then unit started operating normal but noticed the pressure is not where It suppose and slowly started to go up .i recommended replacing Txv .unit is operating normal at this time. Darlene is contacting customer for billing and creating an invoice
On arrival replaced circuit board per work order .unit short cycled again .need to come back during normal operation hours to speak to water funace .unit is not operating normal
Service call 07/01/19 on arrival set unit to call for cooling no error code or any fault measured supply and return air temp measured voltage and amps inspected electrical connections checked filter is cleaned checked compressor capacitor checked pressure and they are ideal indicating zero leaks checked EWP and LWP I found the compressor is short cycling running for 5 minutes and shut off I called water furnace tech support I checked some steps with the we found out the board is bad I explained the customer I gave quote he accepted I ordered the board we have to come back to finish the job also customer has problems with the dumpers we changed 1 month ago but still customer have the same problem after we change the board we have to check the zoning board and the dumpers. Collected $350 for job deposit on CC on file and I have case number and part number for board Case#498003 Part #17p513-01
Spring Pm On 06/27/19 On arrival set unit to call for cooling measured supply and return air temp measured voltage and amps inspected electrical connections checked drain and cleaned checked filter and replaced checked EWP and LWP also temp checked all other electrical connections tested unit operating normal at this time.
Upon arrival replaced failing capacitor, tested system operation normal.
Upon arrival both systems cooling properly, temps and pressures in acceptable ranges. Run capacitor for downstairs unit below allowable variance, recommend replacing. Customer agreed to replace, tech does not have part on truck, office must contact customer to reschedule follow up visit. Customer prefers any day but Monday, anytime after noon. Customer will pay balance for replacement upon completion of work.

On arrival found zone 1 not opening ,found yellow not connected all the way in the zone board terminal ,connected it ,zone 1 responded ,unit operating at this time

On arrival checked thermostat was calling for cooling. Measured EWP,LWP,EWT,LWT,return, supply, amps, and voltage. Inspected electrical connections, capacitor, contactor, blower wheel is clean, evaporator coil is clean, replaced filter provided by customer, tested condensate pump, clean condensate drain line, and also pressurized it to 60psi.
On arrival removed old dampers and I installed (2) - 12x26 dampers (motor on 12" side) Honeywell damper.tested them ,Botha's dampers are responding normal
