Called customer and he informed me that nobody will be home, gave me garage code. Upon arrival I found console unit in garage not running, breaker off. Turned breaker on and let system cycle on. Blower came on but breaker tripped immediately after compressor contactor pulled in, could hear compressor try to start for a split second. Removed compressor leads and found 91ohms at S-C, 321ohms at S-R, and .85ohms at R-C. Compressor is shorted and needs to be replaced. Kept compressor leads off and taped them so breaker doesnâ€™t trip. Continued to run system until aux heat came on. Measured amps and heat rise to make sure it stays operational. Quoting customer to replace compressor. After speaking with customer via text, he asked me to keep the breaker off, doesnâ€™t want aux heat to run. Put all wiring back on compressor and left breaker off.
Replace supply line on cold side of laundry tub, also checked drain lines for backup . ran water from all fixtures on first floor for 10 min no signs of back up. I suspect it was a partial clog that broke from head pressure
On arrival set units to call for heat measured supply and return air temp measured voltage and amps inspected electrical connections checked water pressure,coils,contactors,blowers,filters,units are operating normal.
On arrival both units locked on fp ,checked systems operation.checked pressure drops ,temp rise ,heat extraction,pumps.sensors also checked refrigerant pressures,units are operating normal,possiblity of defective fp sensors .
On arrival installed 2 uv lights .one at the main house attic and the other one at addition attic unit .tested both units.units are operating normal
On arrival removed bad cap ,i then installed new 45uf cap,tested system unit operating normal
Arrived to inspect heat pump system for fall season. Inspected unit in heat test mode. Verified proper order of operations. Found duct dirty and need cleaning. Found unit heating properly. Job complete.

Inspected coils,blowers,found main house unit has a bad cap rated 45 and actual 36 .also noticed a leak on top of water heater at the 1/2 ball valve.also notice some Bactria growth on the outside and inside of main house attic unit and also addition attic unit has some Bactria growth inside of the unit .i recommended installing uv light to prevent any future growth of Bactria .also replaced replaced provided filters . Main house garage unit was not working .found system locked on fp .checked water flow ,checked pressure drop ,ohmed sensor .checked refrigerant pressure ,reset system .also spoke to tech support .unit operating normal at this time.
Customer recently replaced the air filter. Coils and blower wheel are clean. I checked the electrical wiring and electrical systems, including the 15KW auxiliary heat strips, all are within specification. I operated the unit on heating mode and recorded 25 degree temperature rise and 105/315 pressures, iat 65, oat 40-45. I forced the defrost cycle and it indicated and completed its cycle. Unit operating normal.
Air filters were replaced mid September and mid October by the customer. Air coils are clean. I pressurized the 2 ground loops to 65psi. I checked the electrical wiring and electrical systems, including the auxiliary heat strips and their safety devices, all are within specification. I operated the units on second stage heating mode and recorded 25-30 degrees temperature rise across the air coils except for unit #3, which was >30. I increased the blower speed to drop the temp rise to under 30. I calculated heat of extraction and they are all extracting slightly more heat from the loop than the printed data, which is great. Units are all operating normal. There is no surge protector on any of the equipment. Installing one on the main entrance panel will protect everything served by that panel. Also unit #3 in the attic may benefit from a Blue Tube ultra violet light and Ez Trap drain line assembly with built in overflow protector.
Add a water heater tank booster in series to boost temperature
Upon arrival found sump pump to functional. I picked up the float and it worked just fine. Alex will adjust the price of booster for water heater installation.
Checked breaker on water heater found breaker tripped reset breaker also checked elements top element has bad continuity and appears to have been an arc replaced upper element and thermostat tested all working properly . customer is wondering if a surge protector that we installed about eight weeks ago is causing electrical problems in there home
Upon arrival found water heater to be at its age and purging constantly through the t&p valve. The setiment has built up to the point of it almost expanding on the joint in the back of the water heater. Will be a replacement needed
Service call on arrival I checked mean electrical panel customer has issues with some of the breaker tripped customer think the surge protector does the problem but the surge protector is doing his job also is not the one the sesco recalls I checked all breaker in mean panel all of them is on. Customer has problems with electrical issues with garage door customer have to call electrical company to find out the problem. Collected $59 dispatch fee on C.C on file.
On arrival found all units operating normal.replaced 2 Aprilaire 213 filters and one provided filter for consule unit also checked pressures ,and drains .units are operating normal
Replace outdoor sump pump
Upon arrival found leaks on 1/2 cpvc above new water heater,also found corroded pipes on 3/4 ball valve dripping . I will cut out the bad section and repair system
Water heater was found giving low water pressure to all sinks. I opened two sinks pressure would dro to almost nothing. I connected my gauge to both water heaters and found the first water heater old for one problem and two the amount of built up setiment in the water heater was really bad. Itâ€™s clogging the unit from being able to satisfy the proper amount of pressure to the system. I would recommend draining both water heaters down replace the one old water heater. Change off old gate valves while water heaters are drained down. Install new ball valves and test proper pressure for system. Will need to start here first. Since were also here and already have the lines drained down customer wants to swap cop pro before check valve.
Upon arrival I was told that main house attic system wasnâ€™t cooling. Customer suspecting plumbing service because some breakers were shut off during service. During diagnostics I found system getting correct signal from thermostat, high voltage present, pumps running, but system locked out on high pressure. Reset power to AHU and cleared fault, system started cooling. Checked heat rejection and pump amp draw. Measured delta air temp and system is operating normally. This unit doesnâ€™t send voltage to pumps directly, uses slaved control to send signal to another system for pump control. Because breaker was off for the other system, this one faulted. Fault needed to be cleared by cycling power to attic system before running ac again. Unit is operating normal at this time. Called customer to let him know what I found because he wasnâ€™t home. Customer explained that plumbing service done previously on fitting is still leaking and would like it addressed. I told him I would send info to
I replaced the air filter in the geo unit which the customer had on hand. I cleaned the condensate pans and drain lines on both units and ran hot water to flush the debris out and to check for proper drainage. Both units cooling with 20+ degrees across the evaporator coils. The flow rate and heat of rejection for the geo unit is proper. I checked the electrical wiring and electrical systems, all were within specification except for the od fan motor side of the dual run capacitor for the Carrier heat pump. I replaced the dual run capacitor and retained the failed part to return to Carrier. I also installed a whole house surge protector on panel #1. Upon inspection, panel #2 had a whole house surge protector alteady installed. Both panels now are protected and both units are operating normal.
I Installed Honeywell wireless thermostat and equipment interface module.i then tested system .unit operating normal
Upon arrival I was told that geo unit in addition wasnâ€™t heating. Found unit locked out on water flow. Put gauges on system and ran heat, found system is low in 410a. When removing suction side cap I found schrader pin is where leak is located. Repaired pin and checked for other leaks, none found. Spoke to customer and he approved repair. Added 410a to system and balanced Superheat and subcool. Measured delta air temps and delta loop pressures and temps. Unit operating normal. Customer also asked me to replace filters for console unit. Found filters in back storage of main garage but customer didnâ€™t have both sizes of filter. Could only replace filter in laundry room garage console unit.
Customer had questions about why the thermostat wire could not be pulled through. I explained I tried but it snags on an obstacle under the floor. Removing flooring and patching plaster walls would cost more than to install a radio frequency thermostat with equipment interface module. Customer also said they only paid for 2 10KW backup heat packs and questioned about how I knew there was one in the split system air handler. I explained the process of testing the equipment and trying to run it from the existing thermostat and it would not turn on. The two elements are visible when the cover is off of the air handler. Even when I tried to run it from the terminal strip in the air handler it would not come on until two high voltage wires were switched between l1 and l2. Maybe I uncovered a problem they did not know they had. My job was too test the equipment in heating mode. I found a problem, tried to resolve it the cheapest way, but when that didnâ€™t work offered the best solution t
I reset the thermostats to default heat stage setting of .5,.5,.5. Both ground loops haves cold temperatures and are not heating as well as could be because they have been running constantly. Unit #1 and #2 are operating normal. Unit #3 has back up heat staging but does not work because they ran a 5 wire thermostat wire from the air handler to the thermostat. There is not enough wires to make it work. I quoted a repair to fish 8 wire through but it hit something in the wall and I had to stop and connect it back the way it was. I showed the customer and recommended Honeywell wireless thermostat with equipment interface. I will send a quote and customer will speak with there partner about it. I checked the electrical wiring and electrical systems, all are within specification. Flow rates are set correctly. Loop pressures are adequate.
On arrival we found defective control board on unit #3 main house basement. We created an stimate and customer agreed to replace defective board. After replacing defective part unit started operating normal.
Repaired refrigerant leak at wall penetration leading to Attic. Ryan helped hold ladder and torch while brazing new elbow and piping. Pressurized to 300psi nitrogen and held while we clamped lineset back to wall. Pressure held. Vacuumed system down then added refrigerant. Balanced refrigerant using charging chart. Unit is operating normal at this time.
Upon arrival I found Carrier HeatPump was locked out on low pressure fault. Found thermostat had recorded several low pressure faults. I can see evidence of oil on both refrigerant lines coming from attic to outdoor unit on the lineset outside running down house. Went to AHU in attic and found no leaks inside. Set up extension ladder and removed thumb gum sealing penetration to find leak is inside of wall. Quoting customer for leak search and repair but need 2 guys to make repair. Repair will require us to braze lineset on extension ladder. Need someone to held hold ladder, torch, and extra piping while repairing line. Customer approved repair but we need to return with 2 guys, 3/8copper pipe, (2) 3/8 couplings, and (2) 3/8 90s. Office please call to schedule return.
